Nestled at the top of hill just west of the city of St. Catharines in the heart of Niagara's wine country, we're just minutes from the Queen Elizabeth Highway. 

Château des Charmes was founded in 1978 by Paul Bosc, a fifth generation French winegrower. Paul and his young family arrived in Niagara in the 1960’s with the idea that growing our own grapes was the best way to make fine wine. More than ever, we believe in this Estate Winery model and we make our wine only from grapes we’ve grown ourselves.

Enjoy the patio with wine flights, glass and bottle service (not all wine are open, we rotate the wines every month) Feeling snacky, we have flatbreads, spring rolls & jamician patties.  All customers that want to sit on our patio are subject to filling out a government mandated covid form.  No reservations are required we have lots of room.

While the concept of a winery was what inspired Phil Nickel to plant grapes on his farm in 1998, the detailed plan for his dream developed slowly. As his precious plot of vines grew stronger, so did his passion for wine and protecting our planet.

The ultimate creation of Hinterbrook was inspired by a conversation around the Nickel family table in 2009. It was from that conversation that Phil’s commitment to producing premium wines with the latest technology in an eco-conscious manner began to take shape.
